Quantum Adventures is owned by Ugene Nel who made his passion his life - Adventure! He took part in numerous [200-500km] Adventure Races and competed in the AR World Champs, held in New Zealand in 2005, followed by the Bull of Africa 600km Expedition races in the Richter’s Veld/Namibia and in 2008, the 600km Wild Coast Challenge. Early in 2009 he descended the 320km Breede River from source to sea in 5 days over Easter Weekend and in summer with very low water levels. In June 2009 the Xtreme Freedom Challenge race across South Africa which consisted of 85km trail run along the Duzi river from Durban to Pietermaritzburg followed by 2350km of mountain biking which took 20 days with 48000m vertical ascent and finished that off with paddling down the Berg River to Veldrift - 240km. Then in 2010 he did the Freedom Challenge race across SA again - this time completing the race in 16 days and 18 hours. The African 500km Expedition race followed in May 2011 and then the Freedom Challenge race again in June. This time the weather dished out snow whiteouts, mud, head winds and flooded rivers. Despite the tough conditions, he rode much of the time alone and completed the 2400km race in 15 days and 15 hours with an average of 3 hours sleep per night, often riding for 24 hours non stop.

After initially taking part in various Adventure Races [AR], he started to organize shorter races and other off road multi sport events for beginners. QA also organizes and facilitates Corporate Team building, adventure trips, Adventure Racing courses, route scouting and any off the wall type out door stuff. If you need a motivational Speaker to come and chat to your group, Ugene is sure to share his knowledge with you - based on extreme experiences!

Through his various adventures, escapades and sometime narrow escapades, Ugene learnt the value of team work and decision making - often whilst being sleep deprived and under time pressure.
